Nicki Minaj Opens Up About The Drama Surronding The Motorsports Song (Video)

Rapper Nicki Minaj recently sat down with radio host Zane Lowe to speak about her new single, her forthcoming album and more.

During the interview the topic of Cardi B came up and how the drama of the song ‘Motorsport’ came about which caused Nicki to get emotional.

For those of you who are unfamiliar or may have forgotten the drama here’s what happened in a nutshell…

Last year there were rumors that Nicki Minaj was blindsided after recording a track with Qauvo (of the Migos) titled Motorsport that featured a Cardi B verse on the finish version.

The news was not too far fetched considering Nicki and Cardi B were throwing shots at each other on their rap verses. Not to mention Nicki did not originally promote the song on her social media as she has always done with her fans in the past. It also didn’t help that the two female rappers were not in any scenes together on the video.

The internet came up with many theory as to how the song came about, which revealed news that Nicki’s original verse was different and included a bar that name dropping Cardi B.

Nicki took to twitter to give her side of the story, clearing up she was aware Cardi was on the song before it was released, and when she laid her verse it was only Qauvo on the song.

After the tweets, the public never heard anything else from Nicki regarding how the song came about, however Cardi was asked on multiple platforms about the drama of the song and which she confirmed that Nicki’s verse was different and adding she thought it would be a great opprotunity to get on a record with Nicki and The Migos. (Nicki’s original verse included Nicki Singing a bar and rapping “If Cardi the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi”)

Fast forward to earlier this week, Nicki has revealed that Cardi’s interview hurt her feelings and shared that she reached out to Qauvo via text to back up her tweets she posted and he shut her down. During the interview Nicki teared up while explaining what happened behind the scenes.

After the interview aired Nicki also tweeted out:

“How can you say someone changed their verse & forgot to say Quavo TOLD me to remove my singing part (which I loved) & Atlantic told me to remove your name from my verse per your request? So how were those changes gonna happen if I didn’t “change” my verse?”
